René R.F. Wildeman brings a wealth of experience to the table, having graduated from the prestigious Hotelmanagement School of Lausanne in Switzerland. He began his career at various 5-star properties around Lake Geneva before establishing himself in Amsterdam as the General Manager of Swissôtel Amsterdam. Over an impressive 8 1/2 year tenure, he successfully managed the hotel, simultaneously holding the position of General Manager at the Chateau Marquette Hotel in Heemskerk for a shorter period.
Afterwards, René R.F. Wildeman ventured into the world of consultancy, lending his expertise to projects in the Netherlands and Denmark. He also served as the General Manager of Inntel Hotel Amsterdam and held the prestigious role of General Manager at Hotel Amsterdam-De Roode Leeuw for an impressive 16 years. This iconic hotel is located in the heart of Amsterdam, making it a beloved establishment for both locals and tourists.
In addition to his hands-on experience in hotel operations, René R.F. Wildeman has actively contributed to various entrepreneurial associations. He served as a board member for the Amsterdam Section of the Dutch Hotel Association (KHN, Amsterdam) and held the position of Chairman for the first-class 4-star hotel section. René R.F. Wildeman's involvement extended to the Vereniging AmsterdamCity, the main entrepreneurial association in Amsterdam, where he served as a board member for over 20 years. Within this association, he acted as Chairman of the Damrak-Beursplein Association of entrepreneurs and the Owners Association of Damrak-Beursplein in Amsterdam.
Additionally, he held the role of Chairman for the Royal Palace District Association (Paleiskwartier Amsterdam), a marketing association dedicated to promoting the commercial center of Amsterdam for local inhabitants.
René R.F. Wildeman is an honorary member of HSMAI Europe (Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International). His outstanding contributions to the hotel industry have been recognized with prestigious awards. In 2015, he was made a Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau by H.M. Queen Beatrix, acknowledging his dedication to the City of Amsterdam as volunteer. He also received the Frans Banninck Cocq Medal from the City of Amsterdam, honoring his involvement in the local community.
René R.F. Wildeman's passion for sharing his knowledge and expertise extends beyond his consultancy work. He served as a Senior Expert for the Dutch NGO
PUM until 2018 and continues to contribute as a consultant for the Swiss NGO SWISSCONTACT/SENIOR EXPERT CONTACT. In recent years, he has undertaken consulting projects in various countries, including Kosovo, North Macedonia, Indonesia, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar, Nicaragua, and Cambodia.
